Ten not-for-profit disability providers, currently members of industry body Alliance20, will join Ability First Australia (Ability First).
This will make Ability First the country’s largest not-for-profit industry alliance in the disability sector, bringing together 25 not-for-profit, mission-driven disability service providers, their CEOs, and workforces.
Under the Ability First banner, and led by CEO Andrew Rowley, these organisations will continue to support hundreds of thousands of Australians with complex supports needs across metropolitan, regional and remote communities and employ a substantial proportion of the workforce delivering disability services under the NDIS.
Callen O’Brien, Independent Chair of Ability First Australia, said the decision to join the two industry alliances reflects a shared commitment by leading not-for-profit providers to work together in the interests of people with disability and the long-term sustainability of the NDIS.
“This is an important step for the disability sector. By bringing these organisations together under the Ability First Australia banner, we are creating a stronger national voice and a more effective platform for practical, participant-focused reform.”
Rob White, Chair of Alliance20, said the move is ultimately about participant outcomes and the value of a stronger national alliance.
“This joining of two respected national alliances, enhances our ability to contribute practical solutions that protect participant choice and support the long-term strength of the Scheme.”

The transition of the new members into Ability First Australia is expected to be completed by July 2026.
