Cara is a leading South Australian disability service provider. We’re a registered charity and a not-for-profit or, as we like to say, a profit-for-purpose organisation. Instead of answering to shareholders, we answer to our stakeholders – our customers and their families – and everything we do is focused on working alongside our customers so they have choice and control over all aspects of their lives.

Cara formed in 1995 but our history goes back to the 1950s as part of the Spastic Centres of South Australia.

At Cara, our promise is “we find possible” and our staff, who we proudly refer to as Possible People, are there to work alongside children and adults with disability and the people who are important to them.

Cara is a registered NDIS provider and we are proud to offer support including:

  • Supported Independent Living (SIL) – formerly known as accommodation. Whether it’s a share house with other people, a unit with Cara neighbours or an apartment with a Cara concierge on hand, Cara is here to work alongside you as you live your life, your way.

  • Short Term Accommodation (STA) – formerly known as respite. Choose from comfortable, family-style homes across metropolitan Adelaide and regional South Australia. Stay for a few hours, a few days or even longer. Or children and teens might enjoy spending the day at Kids Club or going away on Camps for Kids. Adults aged 18 and older who enjoy travelling would love Cara’s Getaways or taking a break at Farm Stay, our Adelaide Hills property.

  • Home and Community Support. Support when and where you choose, in your own home, on holiday, out and about or anywhere you like.

  • Specialist Services. Cara’s team of Developmental Educators can work alongside you to grow or maintain your confidence and independence. The Specialist Services team often works alongside people for Positive Behaviour Support and Person-Centred Planning.

Cara works alongside people across metropolitan Adelaide, the Adelaide Hills, the Eyre Peninsula, Murraylands, Yorke Peninsula and the South East.

Come and find possible with us.
